Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust
Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) provides a continuum of care for people with an acquired brain injury across the UK, from post-acute hospital based rehabilitation, residential assessment and rehabilitation, through continuing rehabilitation and supported housing and home support. Through our range of specialist services, we aim to enable people to function more independently in the wider community and develop their lives in ways they choose.
Our independent hospitals are for people with an acquired brain injury and complex needs and/or challenging behaviour including verbal and physical aggression, impaired social functioning, disinhibited behaviours and neuropsychiatric symptoms. These hospitals can accept those detained under the Mental Health Act. Our specialist centres, located in regions throughout the UK, deliver a range of flexible assessment and rehabilitation services to adults with an acquired brain injury and cognitive, physical, behavioural and/or emotional difficulties. Medicolegal services are available at all our centres and hospitals www.birt.co.uk/our-services
